has many pretty graphs which show git to almost always be the fastest
at every VCS operation.

Wasting a few (tens of) seconds of volunteer time might not seem like
much, but multiply that across dozens of committers, typing dozens to
hundres of commands per day, and that slow-ness is robbing us of many,
many hours of developer time per year, which is the most precious
resource the Parrot community has.
