FAILing smoke report on trunk for optimized build on darwin ppc

the problem with TODOing a test is that the test is passing on most
platforms and a general TODO would then report TODO passed for most
platforms. You would have to be specific and test for both the platform
Darwin ppc, and for an optimized build, before TODOing. I don't remember
all the details for that, although I have done it before.
It seems to me that if it passes without optimize, but fails in the
optimized build that we have a compiler problem here and especially if it is
not failing on other platforms. It passes for me on both i386 and amd64,
with or without --optimize.
