Smolder Uploads Not Generating Proper Response to Submitter

Friends,

Since approximately Dec 30, most of my Smolder tests have concluded with 
an error message like this:

TAP Archive created at /topdir/work/parrot/parrot_test_run.tar.gz
Could not upload report to Smolder at http://smolder.plusthree.com
HTTP CODE: 500 (read timeout)
make: *** [smolder_test] Error 255
Finished

This is reported regardless of which OS I'm using (Linux/Darwin) or of 
whether I'm smoking trunk or a branch.

Most of the Smolder reports ending like this have, in fact, been 
uploaded to Smolder!  But as the submitter I'm not getting back the 
response I expect and have earned -- i.e., a report which provides the 
number of the Smolder report.
