The other thing that beats me is that every Western mathematician 
pronounces π as 'pie' when in fact the Greeks call it 'pe'.

I studied CS in a UK university and I have always been told to call it 
"pie". It seems that the latin people are hungry when they think of some 
Greek letters... :-P
