threads branch

I am doing final testing on the threads branch today and I would like
to get it merged into master soon. I've built and tested Parrot,
Winxed, Rosella, NQP and am currently in the middle of testing Rakudo.
If all goes well, and if there are no complaints, I would like to
merge this branch before the end of the weekend, today preferrably.

Please Please PLEASE let me know if anybody would like more time to do
more vigorous testing of any variety.
