t/pmc/nci.t still hangs on the threads branch on darwin/ppc

Howdy,

I dusted off my darwin/ppc box and the latest commit on the threads
branch still hangs on t/pmc/nci.t .

When running on fulltest, it hangs on test 29 on machine, but when
running the test with:

TEST_PROG_ARGS="--runcore=bounds -D40 --gc-debug" prove -lrv t/pmc/nci.t

I am seeing it hang, intermittently, on test 39 or 43. I cannot
reproduce the hanging by just running the individual tests.

If anybody has any ideas/patches that they would like me to try,
please let me know.

I really want to get this branch merged!
